Design an original typeface for the International Olympic Committee.
Since the Olympic games focus to unite nations from around the world through high skilled competition, a wide variety of people need to understand the signage and digital media. Neos, Greek for “new” or “rebirth”, was created to energetically communicate for the IOC without sacrificing readability. Inspired by ancient Greek lettering and minimalist typography, Neos also maintains the importance of the games’ Greek roots and values. Optima influenced the unique, pointed curves at the tips of the san serif’s letterforms while the open stance and medium stroke weight were drawn from Univers.
